gov.vote (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the gov.vote platform. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Account information
When you create an account, we collect:

- Organization name (if applicable)
- Billing information (for paid accounts)
Usage information
We collect information about how you use the platform:
- Features accessed
- Emails sent and engagement metrics
- Events created and attendance
- General usage patterns
Constituent data
You may upload or collect constituent information through the platform:
- Names and contact information
- Survey responses
- Event attendance
- Donation history
- Custom fields you define
This data belongs to you, not us.
How we use information
To provide the service
We use your information to operate the platform—sending emails, managing events, processing donations, etc.
To improve the service
We analyze usage patterns to improve features and fix problems. We don’t analyze your constituent data for our own purposes.
To communicate with you
We send transactional emails (receipts, notifications) and occasional product updates. You can opt out of non-essential communications.
We don’t sell your data
We don’t sell your personal information or your constituents’ information to third parties. Ever.
Data ownership
Your data belongs to you
Constituent data you collect through gov.vote belongs to you. You can export it anytime, in standard formats, for any reason.
Portability
If you leave gov.vote, your data leaves with you. We provide full export capabilities and don’t hold your data hostage.
Data security
Encryption
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
Access controls
We limit internal access to data on a need-to-know basis.
Security practices
We conduct regular security reviews and follow industry best practices.
Data location
Data is stored in your region and subject to local privacy laws. You can request data be stored in a specific jurisdiction where we operate.
Third parties
Service providers
We use third-party services to operate the platform:
- Payment processing (Stripe)
- Email delivery (Postmark)
- Hosting (AWS/GCP)
These providers only access data as needed to provide their services.
No advertising
We don’t share data with advertising networks. We don’t use tracking pixels from third parties.
Your rights
Access
You can request a copy of your personal data.
Correction
You can update your information at any time.
Deletion
You can delete your account and we’ll remove your personal data (subject to legal retention requirements).
Your constituents’ rights
You’re responsible for handling data requests from your own constituents. We provide tools to help you comply.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We’ll notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification.
