Who we are
gov.vote is built by people who believe local democracy matters. We’ve seen too many community organizations struggle with expensive, complex tools designed for presidential campaigns—not city councillors.
We’re not backed by venture capital looking for a quick exit. We’re building something sustainable for the long term.
Our commitments
Your data belongs to you
Every piece of information you collect through gov.vote—every email address, every donation, every volunteer signup—is yours. You can export everything at any time, in standard formats, no questions asked.
If you leave, your data leaves with you. We don’t hold communities hostage.
Open source pledge
Our platform will be open source. You can inspect the code, verify our claims, and even host it yourself if you prefer. Transparency isn’t a marketing term for us—it’s how we operate.
Privacy by design
We don’t sell data. We don’t share data with third parties for advertising. We don’t build profiles of your supporters to monetize elsewhere.
Your community’s information is used for one purpose: helping you organize.
Data sovereignty
Your data stays in your region. We use local hosting providers and comply with local privacy laws. Your supporters’ information doesn’t cross borders without explicit consent.
Security practices
- Encryption in transit and at rest
- Regular security audits
- Two-factor authentication available
- Minimal data collection (we don’t ask for what we don’t need)
- Clear data retention policies
